727 Grand transforms essential digital infrastructure into a sculptural civic landmark. Rather than hiding its function, the project gives the urban data center a distinctive public identity. The building occupies a strategic point within a network of transpacific fiber lines. Therefore, it supports the entertainment and technology industries’ growing data needs.
In addition, the facility provides secure and low-latency data storage. Its central Los Angeles location connects digital infrastructure with the industries that depend on it. The windowless exterior creates an opportunity for architectural expression. As a result, form, light, and shadow define the building instead of conventional windows.
Data Center as an Urban Icon
A Façade Shaped by Light
Triangular panels form a rhythmic veil across the façade. Moreover, the panels change scale along the building’s length.
