Shawn Gehle Joins Panel Discussion on Data Centers
OFFICEUNTITLED was proud to participate in ULI Los Angeles’ sold-out StimULI event, Data Centers at the Edge: Designing the New Digital Core, held on September 25, 2025, at AECOM’s Downtown Los Angeles office. The panel explored how edge data centers are reshaping cities as the physical manifestation of the digital world. With AI and digital applications growing exponentially, the need for localized data infrastructure is increasing. This shift is transforming data centers into an urban design challenge, prompting conversations around regulation, sustainability, and how they interact with the built environment.
Shawn Gehle, Co-Founder and Principal of OFFICEUNTITLED, joined industry leaders from Equinix, Corgan, and Turner Construction to examine how data centers can become more than hidden utility buildings. Drawing from his experience in workplace and mixed-use design, Shawn emphasized the opportunity to rethink this building type as one that can be integrated with the city, responsive to its context, and designed with intention. We are grateful to ULI Los Angeles for hosting this timely conversation about the intersection of infrastructure, technology, and design.
